Keeping Mum

Comedy  United Kingdom

Keeping Mum is a 2005 British black comedy film directed by Niall Johnson and starring Rowan Atkinson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Maggie Smith, and Patrick Swayze. The story revolves around Walter Goodfellow, a hapless vicar who is more concerned with writing the perfect sermon than paying attention to his struggling family.

Walter's wife Gloria is unhappy with her marriage and begins an affair with Lance, the golf instructor. Meanwhile, their teenage daughter Holly is rebelling and experimenting with drugs, and their young son Petey is being bullied at school. However, their problems start to take a back seat when Grace Hawkins, a new housekeeper, is hired to help around the house.

Grace is not an ordinary housekeeper - she is a former governess who has a dark past and a knack for solving problems. She secretly takes matters into her own hands and helps the family deal with their problems in unconventional ways, drawing the family closer together in the process.

As the story unfolds, the family discovers how much they need Grace and how she has been a silent force for good in their lives. But when Grace's dark past catches up with her, the Goodfellows must work together to protect her and find a way to keep her in their lives.

Keeping Mum is a witty and wickedly funny film with a stellar cast and an unexpected twist that will keep you on your toes until the very end. It's an entertaining ride that combines dark humor, heart, and a touch of the supernatural to deliver a one-of-a-kind cinematic experience.
