Kabir Singh is a Hindi language romantic drama film released in 2019. It is a remake of the Telugu film Arjun Reddy which was released in 2017. The film was directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who also directed the original Telugu version.
The main character Kabir Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor, is a brilliant medical student who becomes a short-tempered house surgeon after his girlfriend Preeti, played by Kiara Advani, is forced to marry someone else. Kabir Singh spirals into depression and becomes addicted to drugs and alcohol. Despite his addiction, he continues to perform his duties as a surgeon.
The film follows Kabir Singh's journey of self-destruction and eventual redemption. The film also depicts the intense and obsessive love between Kabir and Preeti.
The film received mixed reviews from critics but became a commercial success. Shahid Kapoor's performance as Kabir Singh was widely praised.
