K-9: P.I. is a 2002 action-comedy film directed by Richard J. Lewis and written by Gary Scott Thompson. The movie stars James Belushi as Detective Dooley, and his canine partner, Jerry Lee, a German Shepherd.
The story is set in San Diego, California, where Dooley and Jerry Lee are about to retire from their work in the police force. Dooley's pension is dependent on him solving one last case, which involves finding a set of high-tech computer chips that have been stolen from a government agency. Dooley becomes a private investigator to take on the case, with the help of Jerry Lee.
