Chris Roose (played by Corey Haim) is a talented musician who is set to attend a prestigious music program at a different high school. However, to do so, he must first transfer schools.
When he arrives at his new school, Chris immediately attracts the attention of the popular and arrogant Kurt (played by Joshua John Miller), who quickly makes it clear that he is going to bully Chris relentlessly. Fed up with the constant abuse, Chris comes up with a plan to disguise himself as a girl.
With the help of his best friend Clarence (played by Cameron Bancroft), Chris transforms himself into "Christine" and enrolls as a new student. Surprisingly, the students at the new school (and even some of the teachers) fall for Chris's disguise, thinking that he is a girl.
As "Christine," Chris befriends Marie (played by Nicole Eggert), a beautiful and popular cheerleader who is initially unaware of Chris's true identity. As the two spend more time together, Chris begins to fall in love with Marie, but feels conflicted as he knows that he is not being true to himself.
Meanwhile, Kurt continues to torment Chris, making his life even more difficult.
As the story progresses, Chris struggles to come to terms with his feelings for Marie and his desire to be accepted for who he truly is, while also dealing with the ongoing harassment from Kurt and his gang.
In the end, Chris decides to come clean about his true identity and faces the consequences of his actions. However, he also finds that he has gained a new sense of self-confidence and the respect of his peers.
Just One of the Girls is a heartwarming coming-of-age story about love, acceptance, and discovering one's true self.
