Junglee is a 2019 Hindi-language action-adventure film directed by American filmmaker Chuck Russell. The film is centered around a veterinarian named Raj who returns to his father's elephant reserve in the jungles of India after several years. Raj grew up in the jungle and has a strong bond with the elephants and other wildlife.
However, upon returning, Raj discovers that an international poacher's racket has been operations in the area, capturing and killing elephants for ivory. The poachers are led by a ruthless man named Keshav, who is determined to wipe out all the elephants in the area.
With the help of his childhood love Shankara, a fellow veterinarian and local activist Meera, Raj sets out to stop the poachers and save the elephants. Raj also has to confront his own personal demons as he struggles to come to terms with the death of his mother, who was killed by a rogue elephant when he was a child.
The film features stunning visuals of the Indian jungle and its wildlife, including majestic elephants, tigers, and leopards. There are also exciting action sequences and spectacular stunts, including a breathtaking sequence where Raj and Shankara jump off a waterfall riding on the backs of elephants.
Junglee received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, but was praised for its action, visuals, and portrayal of animal welfare. The film also marked the Bollywood debut of American actor Vidyut Jammwal, known for his expertise in martial arts and stunts.
