Jungle Cruise is a 2021 American adventure film based on the famous Disneyland attraction of the same name. The story takes place in the early 20th century. Dr. Lily Houghton is a British scientist and adventurer who seeks a rare flower named "Tears of the Moon" which can cure any disease and possess supernatural powers. She believes the flower is located in a remote part of the Amazon and asks Frank Wolff, a wisecracking riverboat captain, to take her there. Frank is a struggling businessman and has a rustic boat that he uses for his jungle cruises. He initially refuses but changes his mind when he learns that Lily is willing to pay him a large sum of money.
As they begin their journey, they are being followed by a group of German soldiers led by Prince Joachim, who is searching for the same flower. Joachim believes that the flower will give Germany an advantage in the First World War. Along the way, the trio faces numerous challenges, including dangerous wild animals, treacherous rapids, and a mythical creature named "The Curse of the Jungle."
As they progress through the jungle, Frank and Lily develop a romantic relationship. Eventually, they reach the location of the Tears of the Moon and discover that it is guarded by an ancient civilization known as the Aguirre. They also learn that the flower's real power is that it can bring the dead back to life. Joachim and his army try to steal the flower but are stopped by Frank and his friends. In the end, the flower is destroyed, and Lily decides to stay with Frank in the jungle.
Jungle Cruise received mixed reviews from critics but was a commercial success, grossing over $220 million worldwide. The film's storyline was praised for its action and adventure, and the performances of Johnson and Blunt were also praised.
