In Joy Ride 3, Rusty Nail is still seeking revenge for the events that transpired in the previous two movies. This time, he sets his sights on a group of street racers headed to the Road Rally 1000. The group includes the hot-headed driver, Scott, his girlfriend, and his best friend, who is legally blind and relies on a voice-activated GPS system to navigate.
As the group takes a shortcut through a desolate area, they encounter Rusty Nail and unknowingly provoke him by insulting him over their CB radio. Rusty begins to torment them by disabling their vehicles, killing their pet raccoon, and ultimately separating them from one another.
Scott, the driver, becomes Rusty's primary target as he pursues him across the barren wasteland. Throughout the film, Rusty's sadistic tendencies become more apparent as he continues to put the group through a series of twisted games and challenges.
Eventually, the group uncovers Rusty's true identity and motives, leading to a final showdown between Rusty and Scott. In the end, not everyone makes it out alive as Rusty delivers his own twisted sense of justice.
