Jeanne's Courage: The Dauphin's Escort

History  France

Joan of Arc is played by French actress Sandrine Bonnaire in the movie Joan the Maid I: The Battles. The movie opens with Joan already having had her visions and hearing voices from God, which tell her to go to the Dauphin, who will become the next king of France. Jeanne is depicted as very determined and focused on her mission, despite facing many obstacles and skeptics who doubt her motivations and abilities.

Jeanne first goes to Vaucouleurs to convince the captain, Robert de Baudricourt, to escort her to the Dauphin in Chinon. At first, the captain dismisses her as a mere peasant girl, but she persists and manages to convince him to take her seriously and help her.

Once she arrives at Chinon and meets the Dauphin, Jeanne is tested by the courtiers who try to trick her and expose her as a fraud. However, she manages to convince them that she is the one sent by God to lead the French army to victory against the English.

With the Dauphin's support, Jeanne leads the French army, which is mostly made up of untrained and demoralized soldiers, to Orleans to break the English siege and liberate the city. The movie shows the planning and preparation that Jeanne goes through with her advisors and the battles that she leads with courage and determination.

The movie ends with the French army's victory at Orleans and the beginning of Jeanne's reputation as a military leader. Throughout the movie, Jeanne is shown as a brave and skilled warrior, who uses her faith and beliefs to motivate herself and inspire others to follow her in battle.
