Joan of Arc is played by French actress Sandrine Bonnaire in the movie Joan the Maid I: The Battles. The movie opens with Joan already having had her visions and hearing voices from God, which tell her to go to the Dauphin, who will become the next king of France. Jeanne is depicted as very determined and focused on her mission, despite facing many obstacles and skeptics who doubt her motivations and abilities.

The movie ends with the French army's victory at Orleans and the beginning of Jeanne's reputation as a military leader. Throughout the movie, Jeanne is shown as a brave and skilled warrior, who uses her faith and beliefs to motivate herself and inspire others to follow her in battle.
