Jo threatens to reveal this secret to the press unless Brisebard pays him a large sum of money. Brisebard agrees to meet the blackmailer to pay him the money, but things take a turn for the worse when Jo is accidentally killed during their meeting.

Brisebard decides to dispose of the body and cover up the crime to avoid being implicated in Jo's death. However, a series of mishaps and misunderstandings lead to a comical and chaotic situation where Brisebard is forced to use his writing skills to improvise a perfect alibi.

With the help of his loyal secretary, played by Rosy Varte, and his wits, Brisebard manages to stay one step ahead of the police and eventually solves the mystery of Jo's blackmail scheme. In the end, he is able to clear his wife's name and restore his reputation.
