Documentary,Music  United States of America

Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan were born in Dallas, Texas in the 1950s. Their parents, Martha and Jimmie Sr., were both musicians and encouraged their children to pursue music as well. Jimmie started playing guitar at a young age and eventually formed his own band, The Chessmen, while Stevie Ray took up drums and then guitar.

In the 1970s, Jimmie and Stevie Ray played in various bands around Texas, honing their skills and developing their own styles. Jimmie was influenced by blues and jazz, while Stevie Ray was heavily influenced by blues guitarists like Albert King and Buddy Guy.

In 1983, Stevie Ray released his debut album, Texas Flood, which was a critical and commercial success. He went on to release several more albums and became known for his virtuosic guitar playing and powerful blues vocals.

Jimmie also found success as a musician and songwriter, releasing albums with his band, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and collaborating with other artists like Eric Clapton and Bonnie Raitt.

Despite their success, both brothers struggled with addiction and experienced personal tragedies. In 1990, Stevie Ray died in a helicopter crash at the age of 35, just as he was reaching the peak of his career. Jimmie continued to make music and perform, but also suffered from addiction and lost his wife to cancer in 2013.

Jimmie & Stevie Ray Vaughan: Brothers in Blues explores the brothers' lives and careers, featuring interviews with family members, friends, and fellow musicians. It also includes rare footage and recordings of the brothers performing together and separately. The film offers a glimpse into the enduring legacy of these two Texas blues legends.
