In Jetsons: The Movie, George Jetson is thrilled to hear that he has been promoted to oversee the construction of a new factory on a distant planet called Orbit City. However, this means that George, his wife Jane, their teenage daughter Judy, their young son Elroy, and their housekeeper Rosie must leave their futuristic home in Sky Pad Apartments and relocate to Orbit City.
Upon their arrival, the Jetsons discover that the factory is designed to manufacture Spacely Sprockets, a new product that Mr. Spacely is counting on to save his failing company. However, the factory's construction has resulted in the destruction of a natural habitat for a group of small, furry creatures called Grungies.
Judy befriends one of the Grungies, named Orbitty, and discovers that their habitat is in danger. Determined to save the Grungies and their home, the Jetsons must confront Mr. Spacely and the factory's foreman, who are unwilling to halt production.
In the end, George and his family team up with an environmentalist named Dr. Meltdown to stop the factory and save both the Grungies and Orbit City. With their mission accomplished, the Jetsons return home to Sky Pad Apartments, but not before a heartfelt goodbye to their new furry friends.
