Jersey Girl is a romantic comedy-drama film directed by Kevin Smith, starring Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, and George Carlin. The movie follows Ollie Trinke (Affleck), who is a successful music publicist living in New York City with his wife Gertrude (Jennifer Lopez). However, tragedy strikes when Gertrude dies during childbirth, leaving Ollie devastated and unable to cope with his new responsibilities as a single parent.
Ollie is forced to move back to his hometown in New Jersey to live with his father (Carlin), where he takes a menial job as a public works employee. Despite his struggles, Ollie devotes himself to raising his daughter Gertie (Raquel Castro) and discovers a new kind of love and fulfillment in being a father.
With the help of his quirky best friend (Jason Biggs) and the support of his new love interest (Tyler), Ollie learns to let go of his past and embrace his new life as a single dad. He also comes to terms with his strained relationship with his father, who he blames for pressuring him into a career he never wanted.
Jersey Girl received mixed reviews upon its release, but is considered a heartfelt and often funny take on the struggles of parenthood and the healing powers of love and family.
