The movie Jekyll and Hyde is a modern-day retelling of the classic horror story, "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" by Robert Louis Stevenson. The movie follows the life of Gabriel Utterson, a successful lawyer who is also a close friend of Dr. Henry Jekyll, a brilliant scientist who is working on a revolutionary formula that can transform the human body.
One night, Utterson receives a disturbing news that Jekyll has apparently committed suicide and murder in the same night. Utterson is shocked and he decides to investigate the case himself. He soon discovers a mysterious document, a "confession" written in Jekyll's own handwriting, explaining that his experiments had caused him to transform into a monstrous character he named "Mr. Hyde".
According to the confession, Jekyll had discovered a way to separate the good and evil parts of the human soul, which he believed would lead to a more balanced and harmonious world. However, his experiments on himself had gone horribly wrong, and he found himself transforming at will into a sadistic and brutal killer, Mr. Hyde.
