The scientist in Island of Lost Souls is named Dr. Moreau, a brilliant but corrupt geneticist who has isolated himself on a remote island where he conducts his grotesque experiments. His ultimate goal is to create a new species of beings that are part human, part animal and possess the best traits of both. To achieve this, he transplants animal organs and DNA into human subjects, resulting in a race of monstrous and monstrous-looking beings.
