Irul is a Malayalam-language thriller film directed by Naseef Yusuf Izuddin and written by Sunil Yadav. The movie stars Fahadh Faasil, Soubin Shahir, and Darshana Rajendran in lead roles. It revolves around a couple, Alex and Archana, who get stranded in a secluded house due to heavy rainfall. The house belongs to a writer named Unnikrishnan, who is also present there. Unnikrishnan claims that he did not invite them and that he himself is stranded due to the weather.
As the night progresses, the power goes out, and the three of them begin to hear strange sounds. The tension among them starts to rise when they discover a dead body in the basement. Soon, it becomes clear that one of them is the killer, and the game of cat and mouse begins. The characters continue to suspect each other as they try to unravel the mystery of the dead body.
The film was praised for its atmospheric cinematography and performances, especially that of Fahadh Faasil. It was released on Netflix on April 2, 2021.
