Ironclad is a historical action film based on true events that took place in England in the early 13th century. The film follows the story of a small group of Knights Templar who are charged with defending Rochester Castle against an army of King John's mercenaries, led by the ruthless and sadistic Baron Albany.
The Knights, led by their charismatic leader, Sir Thomas Marshal, are vastly outnumbered and outgunned, but refuse to surrender. They are determined to hold the castle against all odds, even as King John lays siege to it with his full might.
The film is filled with epic battle scenes, including brutal hand-to-hand combat, fiery trebuchet attacks, and tense standoffs between the opposing sides. The characters are well-developed and the performances by the cast, which includes James Purefoy, Brian Cox, and Paul Giamatti, are excellent.
