Iron Eagle is a 1986 action film directed by Sidney J. Furie. The main character, Doug Masters, is a rebellious teenager who dreams of becoming a pilot like his father, who is shot down and imprisoned in a Middle Eastern state. When the US government is unable to negotiate his release, Doug takes matters into his own hands and enlists the help of Chappy, a retired Air Force Colonel and family friend.

Chappy agrees to help Doug rescue his father and trains him to fly an F-16 fighter jet. Together, they devise a plan to sneak into the Middle Eastern state and bomb the MiG base that is holding Doug's father captive. However, the mission is risky, and the two pilots face numerous obstacles along the way, including dogfights with enemy jets and evading detection by the authorities.

The film has several memorable scenes, including a training sequence where Chappy teaches Doug how to fly a fighter jet and a tense showdown where Doug confronts the Middle Eastern dictator responsible for his father's captivity. The film also features a rock-oriented soundtrack, which includes songs by the likes of Queen, Dio, and Twisted Sister.

Iron Eagle earned mixed reviews upon its release but has since become a cult classic, thanks to its high-octane action scenes and cheesy '80s charm. The film spawned three sequels, though none of them were as well-received as the original.
