Invisible Agent is a 1942 comedy-thriller film directed by Edwin L. Marin, produced by Universal Pictures, and based on H.G. Wells' 1897 novel The Invisible Man. The movie is a sequel to The Invisible Man, The Invisible Man Returns, and The Invisible Woman, but it has a completely different storyline.
Invisible Agent follows the story of Frank Raymond (played by Jon Hall), the grandson of the original Invisible Man, who inherits his grandfather's invisibility formula. When Raymond is approached by the US government to use the formula to spy on Nazi Germany during World War II, he reluctantly agrees.
After injecting himself with the formula, Raymond travels to Germany disguised as a Nazi officer and begins spying on the enemy. However, things take a turn for the worse when he is captured by the Nazis and forced to reveal the formula. Raymond must now use his invisibility to escape and stop the Germans from using the formula for their own purposes.
The film received mixed reviews upon release, with some critics praising the performances and humor, while others criticizing the lack of suspense and weak script. However, Invisible Agent remains a popular cult classic among fans of the horror and comedy genres and is considered a noteworthy entry in the Invisible Man film series.
