Intolerable Cruelty is a 2003 romantic comedy film directed by Joel and Ethan Coen and starring George Clooney and Catherine Zeta-Jones. The plot follows Miles Massey (Clooney), a successful and wealthy divorce lawyer, who is hired by socialite Marylin Rexroth (Zeta-Jones) to represent her in her divorce. However, Miles soon realizes that Marylin is a gold digger who plans to take her husband for all he's worth.
Despite her intentions, Marylin and Miles are mutually attracted to each other and begin a romantic relationship. However, Miles is hesitant to commit, knowing that Marylin is only interested in his money. Their relationship becomes further complicated when Marylin's husband, Rex Rexroth, hires Miles to defend him in the divorce case and Miles discovers that he and Marylin had never actually been legally married.
As their professional and personal lives become intertwined, Miles and Marylin must navigate their feelings for each other, the legal machinations of the divorce case, and the scheme of a jilted lover seeking revenge. Intolerable Cruelty received mixed reviews upon its release but has since become a cult classic among Coen Brothers fans.
