Steven Seagal plays Travis Hunter, an agent with the CIA who is summoned to Tokyo after the assassination of the city's governor, a killing that is linked to the local Yakuza crime syndicate. Hunter, who was raised in Japan and trained by a former Yakuza member, quickly determines that tensions are high between the old-guard Yakuza members and a young, unstable leader named Kuroda (played by Takao Osawa) who has ties to the Chinese Tong.
As Hunter begins to investigate further, he finds himself embroiled in a dangerous game of cat and mouse with Kuroda and his followers, including a beautiful but deadly woman named Mayumi (played by Chiaki Kuriyama). Along the way, Hunter is aided by a number of contacts from his past, including the ex-Yakuza member who trained him (played by Ken Lo) and a local reporter (played by Matthew Davis) who becomes Hunter's unlikely ally.
As the conflict between the Yakuza factions escalates, Hunter must use all of his skills and knowledge of the local culture to stop Kuroda from unleashing chaos on Tokyo. Along the way, he uncovers a web of corruption and deceit that threatens to bring down not just the Yakuza, but also the city's political elite. With pulse-pounding action sequences, stunning cinematography, and a cast of memorable characters, Into the Sun is a thrilling ride from start to finish.
