Internes Can't Take Money is a 1937 drama film directed by Alfred Santell and starring Barbara Stanwyck, Joel McCrea, and Lloyd Nolan. The film follows the story of Dr. James Kildare (McCrea), a young intern at Blair General Hospital in New York City who falls in love with Janet Healy (Stanwyck), a young woman from a very different background.
Janet is the widow of a bank robber who has been released from prison after serving time for her husband's crimes. She is poor and desperate to find her missing baby, who she believes has been taken by her former criminal associates.
Kildare comes to know Janet after treating her for an injury and becomes deeply involved in her life. They work together to try and find her missing child, but they encounter opposition from the criminals who are hiding the infant. Kildare also becomes entangled with gangster Hanlon (Nolan) who he treats for injuries sustained in a brawl.
