Valentin Bravo (Eugenio Derbez) is a handsome, carefree playboy living in Acapulco, Mexico. He spends his days flirting with women, partying and working odd jobs to make ends meet. But his life takes an unexpected turn when an ex-girlfriend from his past, Julie (Jessica Lindsey), leaves a baby girl on his doorstep and disappears without a trace.
At first, Valentin is overwhelmed and unsure of how to care for the baby. But he quickly becomes attached to her and decides to raise her as his own daughter, naming her Maggie. He quits his partying lifestyle and becomes a devoted and loving father, catering to Maggie's every need.
Valentin and Maggie's idyllic life is thrown into chaos when Julie suddenly reappears, demanding custody of Maggie. Valentin is determined to keep his daughter and sets out with Maggie on a journey to find Julie and convince her to let him keep Maggie.
The journey takes them to Los Angeles, where they encounter all kinds of obstacles, including a run-in with immigration authorities. Along the way, Valentin meets many people who are touched by his devotion to Maggie, including a struggling actress named Frank (Loreto Peralta) who befriends and helps them.
In the end, Valentin and Maggie's bond is unbreakable, and their journey ultimately leads them to a happy ending, although not without some heartbreak along the way. The film ends with a heart-warming tribute to the enduring love between a father and his daughter.
