In Insidious: The Last Key, Elise Rainier, played by Lin Shaye, is called upon to investigate a haunting in Five Keys, NM. She discovers that the house is the same one she lived in as a child and where she experienced some of her own traumatic paranormal encounters.
The investigation leads Rainier and her team into the home's dark and twisted past, where they encounter malevolent entities and uncover secrets that have long been buried. As they delve deeper into the house's history, they come face to face with a demon who has been possessing the residents of Five Keys for centuries.
The demon targets Rainier's own family, and she is forced to confront the ghosts of her past in order to defeat the evil entity. Along the way, she receives help from her two sidekicks, Specs (Leigh Whannell) and Tucker (Angus Sampson), and a local named Garza (Kirk Acevedo).
Insidious: The Last Key is the fourth installment in the popular Insidious franchise and was directed by Adam Robitel. The film explores the backstory of Elise Rainier and provides a satisfying conclusion to her character arc.
