The movie begins with Colonel Hans Landa, a cunning and manipulative Nazi officer known as "the Jew Hunter," interrogating a French dairy farmer about whether he is hiding any Jews on his property. Landa eventually discovers a Jewish family hiding beneath the farmhouse floorboards and orders their execution.
Meanwhile, Lt. Aldo Raine assembles a team of eight Jewish-American soldiers, including Sergeant Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz and Private First Class Utivich. The Basterds carry out a series of brutal attacks on Nazi soldiers, scalping their victims and leaving a trail of fear and destruction in their wake.
At the same time, the French-Jewish teenage girl Shosanna Dreyfus runs a movie theater in Paris and plans to orchestrate a revenge plot against the Nazi leadership, who were responsible for killing her family. Shosanna is introduced to German war hero Fredrick Zoller, who convinces Joseph Goebbels to use her cinema to premiere his latest propaganda film, "Nation's Pride."
As the premiere approaches, the Basterds hatch a plan to infiltrate the event and assassinate key Nazi leaders, including Goebbels and Hitler himself. The plan ultimately succeeds, with Shosanna getting her revenge by setting the cinema ablaze and killing the remaining Nazi leadership.
The movie ends with the Basterds victoriously driving away from the scene, and Lt. Raine bellowing his famous line, "You know how you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice!"
