Inbetween Girl follows the life of Angie Chen, a talented teenage artist who is struggling to find her place in the world. Angie is a smart and ambitious girl who loves playing soccer, but she's also dealing with a lot of personal issues, including her parents' divorce and her own feelings of racial insecurity.
One of the only things that brings her some comfort is Liam, a cute boy from school who plays soccer with her. Although Angie insists that she doesn't like Liam in a romantic way, she enjoys getting rides home from him after practice and talking to him about life.
However, everything changes when Liam shows up outside Angie's window in the middle of the night, and the two have a secret hookup. Suddenly, Angie is forced to confront her own feelings of attraction and desire, and she is unsure of what she wants or who she wants to be.
Throughout the course of the film, Angie begins to explore her sexuality and her own artistic talents, even as she struggles with feelings of insecurity and the pressure to fit in with her wealthy and popular classmates. But with the help of Liam and her own strength and determination, Angie will discover who she really is and what she wants out of life, in this empowering and moving coming-of-age story.
