In the Land of Women is a 2007 romantic comedy-drama film directed by Jon Kasdan. The film follows Carter Webb (played by Adam Brody), who is a struggling writer in Los Angeles, going through a tough time in his life. He is dealing with a bad breakup and struggling to find inspiration for his writing.
With no other options, he moves to Michigan to take care of his ailing grandmother. Soon after arriving, he meets the mother and daughters who live across the street. The mother, Sarah Hardwicke (played by Meg Ryan), is a successful breast cancer surgeon who is dealing with her own problems.
The two teenage daughters, Lucy (played by Kristen Stewart) and Paige (played by Mackenzie Vega), also have their own issues. Lucy is dealing with her first heartbreak and has a difficult time expressing herself, while Paige is struggling to find her place in the world as a young teenager.
As Carter becomes involved in their lives, he learns more about himself and finds inspiration for his writing again. He also develops romantic feelings for Sarah, despite the fact she is in a failing marriage.
In the Land of Women is a coming-of-age story for both the teenage girls and Carter, who learn to deal with the challenges life throws at them. The film is a heartwarming tale of love, loss, and the importance of family and friendship.
