In the Fade is a German drama film directed by Fatih Akin and released in 2017. The film follows the story of Katja Sekerci, a woman who loses her husband Nuri and son Rocco in a terrorist attack in Hamburg. Nuri, who was a former convict and a non-practicing Muslim, was suspected by many to have been involved in drug trafficking. However, Katja claims that Nuri had left his criminal past behind and had nothing to do with the attack.

The film is divided into three parts: "Family," "Justice," and "The Sea." In the first part, "Family," we see Katja and Nuri's happy life together, raising their son Rocco. The couple met while Nuri was in prison and, after his release, he opened a small tax office with the help of his wife. One day, while Katja is out with her friend, a bomb explodes at Nuri's office, killing him and Rocco. Katja is devastated, and her world collapses.

In the second part, "Justice," Katja attends the trial of the two neo-Nazis accused of the attack. The courtroom is filled with tension as the defense attorney tries to paint Nuri as a criminal and a drug trafficker. The trial ends with a verdict of not guilty due to lack of evidence, and Katja feels like justice has not been served.

In the third part, "The Sea," Katja decides to take matters into her own hands. She buys a gun and goes on a mission to seek revenge. She travels to Greece, where the neo-Nazis have fled, and tracks them down. In a tense and dramatic finale, she confronts them and takes her revenge.

Overall, In the Fade is a powerful and emotional film that explores themes of grief, justice, and revenge. Diane Kruger delivers a stunning performance as Katja, capturing the character's pain and anguish with raw and intense emotion. The film's suspenseful plot and strong thematic content make it a must-see for fans of world cinema.
