In the Cut is a 2003 psychological thriller directed by Jane Campion and starring Meg Ryan as Frannie Avery, a writing professor in New York City. When Frannie discovers the body of a young woman in an alley near her apartment, she becomes obsessed with the case and begins to investigate.
