In the Afternoon Shade is a French drama film directed by Philippe Garrel. The movie follows Quentin, a young Parisian who spends his days watching films and reading books.
One day, after watching two movies at the cinema, Quentin runs into an old college friend who invites him to join her for a drink. While at the bar, he overhears a group of girls talking about their relationships and desires. This leads him to reflect on his own romantic life.
Quentin then meets up with his best friend, Thomas, and they have a few beers together. They talk about their lives and reminisce about their past. As they leave the bar, they decide to go for a walk in the Parc Montsouris.
It's in this park that Quentin meets Lise, a young woman who is also spending her evening there. They strike up a conversation, and Quentin is immediately drawn to her. They spend the rest of the night together, walking and talking under the stars.
As the night comes to a close, Quentin must confront his own feelings and decide what he wants from his life. In the Afternoon Shade is a film about love, loss, and the power of human connection.
