Jack Spade, played by Keenen Ivory Wayans, returns home from his military service to find his brother June Bug has died of an overdose caused by the "Gold Chain" gang's drugs. Jack attends his brother's funeral and then decides to take action against the criminal element ruling his neighborhood. He goes to a local barbershop where he meets John Slade, played by Bernie Casey, who was a former Blaxploitation hero of the 1970s. Slade agrees to help Jack in his quest to take down Mr. Big, the local crime lord who controls the drug trade.
Jack and his team of misfits, including Hammer, played by Isaac Hayes, and Kung Fu Joe, played by Steve James, start their mission to take down Mr. Big and his drug operation. Their first step is to infiltrate one of Mr. Big's drug labs, which leads to a hilarious action sequence reminiscent of typical 70s Blaxploitation films. They also find out that Mr. Big has corrupt cops on his payroll.
As the plot progresses, Jack and Slade come face-to-face with Mr. Big and his hired goons in a final showdown. The film takes a comical approach to the action genre and parodies the exaggerated plots and characters of 70s Blaxploitation films. The film features several cameos, including Jim Brown, Damon Wayans, and Clarence Williams III, who all starred in Blaxploitation films. The film was a critical and commercial success and is considered a cult classic.
