The movie follows the story of Paul Kerr (Craig Ferguson) who was a famous rock star in the 1980s and 90s. He made several hit records and toured the world, but now he is washed up and broke. He's living in London, estranged from his family and barely getting by.
One day, he gets a shock when a teenage girl named Olivia (Charlotte Church) shows up at his door. She reveals that she is his daughter, and she wants to get to know him. Paul is skeptical at first, but he gradually warms up to the idea of having a daughter.
Olivia is a gifted singer like her father, and Paul starts to mentor her, hoping to help her achieve success in the music industry. He also starts to reconnect with his own family, including his ex-wife (Jemma Redgrave) and his brother (Dougray Scott).
As Paul and Olivia bond, they face various challenges and obstacles, including the disapproval of Olivia's mother (Imelda Staunton) and Paul's struggles with addiction and fame. However, they ultimately come together and discover the true meaning of family.
