The movie, released in 2006, is the third installment in the "I Know What You Did Last Summer" horror franchise. The film follows a group of teenagers in the small-town of Broken Ridge, Colorado, who decide to play a prank on their friend, Billy, by dressing up in a scary costume and sneaking into his bedroom on July 4th. However, things take a tragic turn when Billy accidentally falls out of his window and dies.
The teenagers, afraid of the consequences, make a pact to keep their involvement in Billy's death a secret. However, a year later, they begin to receive threatening messages and are stalked by an unknown assailant who refers to them as "killers" and vows to make them pay for their sins.
As the July 4th celebration approaches, the teenagers become increasingly paranoid and try to figure out who is behind the threats. They visit Billy's grave and discover that someone has recently placed flowers and a note that reads "I Know What You Did Last Summer." They also receive a clue that leads them to an abandoned mine, where they find evidence that Billy's death may not have been an accident after all.
As the teenagers continue to be chased by the killer, they work to unravel the mystery of Billy's death and the legend that surrounds Broken Ridge. In the end, they confront the killer and discover the shocking truth about what really happened on that fateful July 4th night.
