"Ideal Home" is a 2018 comedy-drama film written and directed by Andrew Fleming. The film stars Steve Coogan and Paul Rudd as a bickering gay couple, Erasmus and Paul, who are co-hosts of a famous cooking show in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Their already troubled relationship takes a further downturn when they have to take care of Erasmus's estranged grandson, Bill (Jack Gore), whom Erasmus did not know existed. The young boy was sent to them by Erasmus's troubled son, Beau (Jake McDorman), who is currently in jail.
Erasmus and Paul are initially hesitant to take care of Bill, but eventually warm up to him and begin to enjoy their time as a family together. However, their newfound sense of family is threatened when Beau is released from prison and wants to take Bill back.
As the couple tries to navigate through their issues with each other and Beau’s interference, they realize that Bill is the key to their future as a family. Ultimately, the trio comes together to show what it means to be a family and how love can conquer all obstacles.
"Ideal Home" explores themes of family, acceptance, and love, and is praised for the performances of the three lead actors and their chemistry on screen.
