The movie Ice Age was released in 2002 and was directed by Chris Wedge and Carlos Saldanha. It was produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox.
The film is set during the Pleistocene era, when the Earth was experiencing a period of intense glaciation. The main characters are Manny, a woolly mammoth who is initially portrayed as aloof and unsocial; Diego, a saber-toothed tiger who is tasked with leading Manny and Sid to a human camp but secretly plans to betray them; and Sid, a giant ground sloth who is clumsy and annoying but ultimately proves to be a reliable friend.
The plot of the movie revolves around the trio's journey to return a human baby named Roshan to his tribe. They must traverse treacherous landscapes, fend off predators, and battle against Diego's treachery in order to accomplish their goal. Along the way, they encounter a variety of other prehistoric creatures, including dodo birds, a pack of vengeful hyenas, and a group of mischievous prehistoric squirrels.
As the trio faces increasingly perilous obstacles, they begin to bond over their shared experience and develop a deep sense of loyalty and friendship. Eventually, they are forced to put aside their differences and work together to save Roshan and protect their newfound family.
Ice Age was a critical and commercial success upon its release, grossing over $383 million worldwide and spawning a successful franchise that includes multiple sequels and spin-offs. Its success is due in large part to its engaging story, lovable characters, and stunning visuals, which brought the prehistoric world to life in a way that captivated audiences young and old.
