Drama  Japan

I Wish (original title Kiseki) is a 2011 Japanese drama film directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda. Koichi lives with his mother and grandparents in Kagoshima, while Ryu lives with his father in Fukuoka.

Despite living apart, the two brothers remain in close contact and often talk on the phone. One day, they hear about a phenomenon called the Kiseki (miracle) Line, which is a new bullet train line that is about to open. It is said that when two trains on the Kiseki Line pass each other, wishes made by passengers at that moment will come true.

Koichi and Ryu decide to meet up and travel to a spot on the Kiseki Line where they hope to witness the train miracle and make their wishes. Koichi wishes for his parents to reunite and for his family to live together again, while Ryu wishes to become a famous musician.

Along their journey, Koichi and Ryu meet other children who also want to make their wishes come true. They discover that their wishes may not come true in the way they expected, but the journey itself brings them and the people around them closer together.

I Wish is a heartwarming film that explores themes of family, friendship, and the power of hope and imagination. It received critical acclaim and won several awards, including the Best Screenplay award at the Asian Film Awards.
