Chapter 1:
The movie begins by introducing an elderly man named Masao who lives alone in a modest house on the north shore of O‘ahu, Hawai‘i. Masao is facing the end of his life and is haunted by memories of his past. One night, he is woken up by the apparition of his beloved wife, Grace, who passed away many years ago.
Chapter 2:
As Masao struggles with feelings of regret and loneliness, he is visited by the ghost of his estranged son, Koji, who left home many years ago after a falling out with his father. Koji's ghost appears seeking forgiveness and to make amends with his father.
Chapter 3:
Masao's granddaughter, Kea, comes to visit him, and he is forced to confront the harsh reality of his current situation. Kea helps Masao remember the happy times he had with his family, and he begins to open up to her about his regrets and fears of dying alone.
Chapter 4:
As Masao's health deteriorates, he continues to be haunted by the ghosts of his past, but instead of being afraid, he embraces their presence and finds comfort and closure in their visits. In the end, Masao passes away, surrounded by the memories of his loved ones. The movie concludes with a shot of Masao's empty house, now filled with the memories of his family.
