Return to Campus: A Writer's Journey

Drama,Comedy,Romance  United States of America

I Used to Go Here is a 2020 American comedy-drama film directed and written by Kris Rey. The film features Kate Conklin, a struggling 35-year-old writer whose debut novel is just released. However, the novel is not doing well, and Kate is left feeling embarrassed and humiliated. She is then invited to speak at her former university by her former professor and mentor, David Kirkpatrick.

Kate sees this as an opportunity to relive her college days, and when she arrives, she meets a group of eccentric, idealistic college students. She is immediately infatuated with them and is glad to get swept up in their careless and youthful lifestyle.

As Kate spends time with the college students, she begins to realize that her own life does not measure up to the life she had imagined. She also realizes that her novel, which she thought was an authentic depiction of college life, is not really that authentic.

As the story progresses, Kate must confront her past, present, and future and make some hard decisions about her life. Ultimately, she learns that while nostalgia can be comforting, it is the present that truly matters.

The cast of the movie features Gillian Jacobs as Kate Conklin, Jemaine Clement as David Kirkpatrick, Hannah Marks as Hugo's Girlfriend, Josh Wiggins as Hugo, Forrest Goodluck as Tall Brandon, Rammel Chan as Party Goer, Kate Micucci as Laura, and Jennifer Joan Taylor as Aunt Susan.
