Animation,Drama  France

I Lost My Body is a French animated film directed by Jérémy Clapin. The movie is based on the novel Happy Hand by Guillaume Laurant. The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2019, where it won the Nespresso Grand Prize. The movie follows the journey of a severed hand named Rosalie, who is determined to reunite with her body.

The movie begins with Rosalie escaping from a refrigerated room in a medical school where she was to be dissected. Once free, Rosalie embarks on an incredible journey through the city streets. As she navigates her way through the urban landscape, she remembers her life with her owner, Naoufel. Rosalie recalls how her owner was a young man who dreamt of being a pianist, but ended up working in a pizzeria to support his family.

As Rosalie searches for her body, the movie also follows Naoufel's journey as he struggles to find his own purpose in life. After a series of failed attempts, Naoufel lands a job as a delivery boy for a carpenter named Gigi. During one of his deliveries, Naoufel meets Gabrielle, Gigi's niece, who changes his life forever. Gabrielle is a librarian who shares Naoufel's love for music and becomes his inspiration to pursue his dream of becoming a pianist.

As the movie reaches its climax, Rosalie finally finds Naoufel and helps him fulfill his destiny. The final scene of the movie reveals that Naoufel's destiny is to become a pianist and perform in front of a large audience. The movie ends with Rosalie and Naoufel's hand touching each other, symbolizing the connection between the two and the power of determination and love.
