As Lawrence starts working at the video store, he quickly becomes enamored with his manager, Claire, who is ten years his senior. Despite their age difference and Claire's initial reluctance, the two develop a unique bond over their shared love of cinema.
As Lawrence gains more confidence through his job, he becomes bolder in his attempts to pursue Claire. However, their relationship becomes complicated when Claire starts dating someone else, leaving Lawrence heartbroken and struggling to navigate his emotions.
Meanwhile, Lawrence's home life is equally tumultuous. His mother and stepfather are constantly fighting, and his stepsister seems to have it out for him. Lawrence turns to the movies for solace, finding solace in the fictional worlds he can escape to.
