The movie follows the story of newlyweds Josh and Nat, who after a whirlwind romance, hastily get married. Josh is an aspiring novelist while Nat is a high-powered marketing executive. The couple is constantly dealing with compatibility issues and their differences in values and outlooks. As they approach their one-year anniversary, they both start to feel like they may have made a mistake.
Nat’s ex-boyfriend, Guy, who happens to be a successful American businessman, re-enters her life and adds to her confusion. Meanwhile, Josh finds himself attracted to a quirky and spontaneous writer named Chloe, who he meets at a book launch event. As the couple struggles to keep their marriage intact, they seek advice from their friends, including their polar-opposite-couple friends, who couldn’t be more different from each other.
Despite their efforts to work on their relationship, Nat and Josh cannot seem to reconcile their differences, and they eventually decide to part ways. In the end, they both realize that they were not right for each other, but their split leaves them with valuable lessons and new insights on life and love.
