I Dream of a Psychopomp follows the journey of Tom, a recent widower who is struggling to cope with the loss of his wife, Marie. Tom is haunted by the distressed ghost of Marie, who appears in different forms to him and causes him great turmoil. One night, Tom meets a mysterious psychopomp, who introduces him to the spirit world and reveals that Marie's spirit is stuck in limbo.
Through a series of dreams and visions, the psychopomp teaches Tom about death, the afterlife, and the role of soul guiding. Tom learns that there are different types of spirits and entities in the spirit world, some of whom are benevolent and some of whom are malevolent. He also learns that there are specific rituals and practices that can be used to help guide spirits to where they need to go.
As Tom gains more knowledge about the spirit world, he starts to understand why Marie's ghost is stuck and what he needs to do to help her move on. He must confront his own grief and guilt, as well as face the darker entities in the spirit world that are trying to keep Marie's spirit trapped.
