"I Care a Lot" is a dark comedy thriller directed by J Blakeson, released in 2020. The movie follows Marla Grayson, played by Rosamund Pike, who is a court-appointed legal guardian who runs a scam whereby she convinces a judge to appoint her as the legal guardian for elderly people who have no immediate family. Once she has them under her legal guardianship, she puts them into care homes and sells off their assets to make huge profits.

Marla's latest victim is a retired businesswoman named Jennifer Peterson, played by Dianne Wiest. Jennifer seems to be the perfect target for Marla's scam, as she is wealthy and has no living relatives. But soon after Marla assumes control of Jennifer's life, she discovers that her newest victim has some powerful friends who will stop at nothing to get her back.

Jennifer turns out to be more than just another easy target for Marla. She was, in fact, involved in a secret business that has made her many enemies. When Marla realizes just how much trouble she has caused by taking Jennifer under her care, she must decide whether to continue with her scheme or do the right thing and help Jennifer.

As the plot thickens, Marla finds herself in a dangerous and deadly battle against a powerful criminal organization that is determined to get Jennifer back. Along the way, Marla teams up with a former romantic interest, played by Peter Dinklage, to try and outsmart their enemies and come out on top.

"I Care a Lot" is a well-directed, brilliantly acted thriller that exposes the dark side of the legal guardianship system. The movie is wickedly funny, smart, and suspenseful, making it a must-watch for fans of dark comedies and thrillers.
