Hunting and Gathering (Ensemble, c'est tout) is a 2007 French drama film directed by Claude Berri. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Anna Gavalda.

The story revolves around four characters – Camille, Philibert, Franck, and Paulette. Camille is a young talented artist who is struggling to make ends meet. She lives in a shabby apartment in Paris, and her life takes a turn for the worse when she falls ill and is unable to work.

Philibert is a shy and socially awkward man who lives in a large apartment inherited from his wealthy family. He is a collector of old books and artifacts and spends most of his time alone, reading and contemplating life.

Franck is a rough-around-the-edges chef who works in a restaurant and lives in a small apartment above it. He is a brash and impulsive person who enjoys his freedom and independence.

Paulette is an elderly woman who lives in the same building as Philibert. She is cantankerous and unpleasant, but Philibert and Camille take turns looking after her.

When Camille falls ill, she is evicted from her apartment and has nowhere to go. Philibert offers to let her stay with him, and Franck agrees to let her use his old workshop as a studio.

As the four characters start living together, they form an unlikely bond. Philibert and Camille develop a romantic relationship, and Franck becomes protective of the two. Paulette also softens towards her new housemates and becomes a part of the makeshift family.

The film explores themes of loneliness, friendship, and love. It is a heartwarming and poignant story about the connections we make in life and the comfort we can find in unlikely places.
