In the movie Hulk, Bruce Banner is haunted by the memories of his abusive father and the gamma radiation experiment gone wrong that turned him into a monster. He spends his time working in a genetics lab in California in hopes of finding a cure for the gamma mutation.
One day, Bruce accidentally exposes himself to a massive dose of gamma radiation and begins to transform into the Hulk whenever he experiences intense emotions, particularly anger. His co-worker and former lover, Betty Ross, helps him escape the military, who want to capture and weaponize the Hulk.
As Bruce tries to find a cure for his condition, he discovers that his father was involved in the experiment that caused his mutation and that he has inherited some of his father's abilities. Bruce's father seeks him out and tries to use him as a pawn in his own plans for world domination.
In the final confrontation, the Hulk battles his mutated father, absorbing and neutralizing his powers. Bruce is finally able to control his transformations and reconcile with Betty, putting his past behind him.
