The author, Marie Adams, is portrayed as a troubled woman who is struggling to cope with something from her past. Her husband, Richard, sends her to the isolated town of Drakho to get away from the stress of the city and focus on her writing. However, Marie quickly becomes aware that something is not right in the town.
As she spends more time in Drakho, Marie starts to experience strange occurrences such as seeing ghostly figures and hearing strange noises at night. Marie dismisses these experiences as her imagination until she meets a local woman, Eleanor, who warns her about the town's dark history and the strange occurrences that have been happening for centuries. The townsfolk believe that they are being haunted by demons and werewolves, and that these creatures are responsible for the unexplained deaths that have occurred throughout the town's history.
As Marie uncovers more about the town's past, she discovers that the creatures are all too real and that she is in grave danger. She must find a way to escape the clutches of the supernatural before it's too late.
Howling IV: The Original Nightmare is a horror film, released in 1988, directed by John Hough and starring Romy Windsor as Marie Adams.
