Howards End is a 1992 British romantic drama film based on the novel of the same name by E. M. Forster. The film follows the story of the Schlegel sisters, Margaret and Helen, who belong to the intellectual upper class of Edwardian England. They become unexpectedly entangled with the wealthy Wilcox family, whose patriarch, Henry, is a conservative businessman.

As the story unfolds, Margaret and Henry develop a mutual attraction, which is complicated by the fact that Henry's wife, Ruth, is dying. Meanwhile, Helen becomes involved with Leonard Bast, a struggling clerk who is trying to better his circumstances. Bast's relationship with his impoverished mistress, Jackie, ultimately leads to tragic consequences for all involved.

As the characters navigate their relationships with each other, they are forced to confront the class divisions that are rapidly changing the social landscape of England in the early 20th century. The film explores themes of love, betrayal, social mobility, and the clash between tradition and modernity. It is widely regarded as a masterpiece of British cinema, and earned critical acclaim upon its release, winning several awards, including three Academy Awards.
