How I Live Now is a 2013 British-American drama film directed by Kevin Macdonald and based on the 2004 novel of the same name by Meg Rosoff. The film follows the story of Daisy (Saoirse Ronan), an American teenager who is sent to England to spend the summer with her cousins. Initially unhappy about the trip, Daisy begins to bond with her cousins and falls in love with her cousin, Edmund (George MacKay).

Their idyllic summer is cut short as war breaks out and their family is goaded apart, with Daisy and her younger cousin, Piper (Harley Bird), forced to flee and fend for themselves in the countryside. The two struggle to survive as they search for food and shelter while trying to evade soldiers and make their way back to their family.

As the war intensifies, Daisy becomes increasingly determined to reunite with Edmund and return home to America. Along the way, she discovers her own strength and resilience, and develops a deeper appreciation for the family bonds she shares with her cousins.

The film received mixed reviews upon its release, but was praised for Ronan's performance and its portrayal of teenage sexuality and the emotional impact of war. It ultimately serves as a poignant coming-of-age story set against the backdrop of a devastating conflict.
