How I Ended This Summer is a Russian drama film directed by Aleksei Popogrebsky. The film takes place in the Arctic region where two men, Sergei and Pavel, are stationed at a meteorological research station. Sergei is an experienced meteorologist while Pavel is a young college student who is working as an intern. They are the only two people present at the base.
One day, Sergei receives a radio message from their headquarters that there has been a nuclear war and they must evacuate the station immediately. However, Sergei decides to keep the information from Pavel and only tells him that they need to stay put until further orders arrive.
As time passes, Pavel begins to doubt Sergei's intentions especially when he discovers that the radio message was not a test but was, in fact, a genuine one. The two men begin to mistrust each other as tensions rise and their isolation from the rest of the world adds to their paranoia.
The film explores the themes of human nature, communication, and the consequences of actions. It was well-received by critics and won several awards at international film festivals.
