House Party is a 1990 American coming-of-age comedy film directed by Reginald Hudlin. The film stars Christopher "Kid" Reid and Christopher "Play" Martin of the popular hip hop duo, Kid 'n Play, and follows the story of a high school student named Kid, who is forbidden by his strict father to attend a party at his friend Play's house.
Despite being grounded, Kid manages to sneak out of his bedroom window and attend the party. However, the party quickly turns chaotic as Kid and his friend Play get into a fight with a group of bullies from school. The bullies, led by a student named Stab, have been looking to settle a score with Kid for embarrassing them in front of their peers.
The rest of the film follows Kid and Play as they try to enjoy the party while also avoiding the wrath of Stab and his gang. Along the way, Kid meets a high school crush named Sydney, played by actress Tisha Campbell, who helps him navigate through his troubles at the party and opens his eyes to new possibilities.
During the film, there are several memorable scenes, including a dance battle between Kid and Play, a rap performance by the duo, and a wild police raid on the party. The film was praised for its humor and portrayal of African-American teenage culture, and has since become a cult classic in the hip hop community.
