The film follows the story of a married couple, Alan and Sarah, who hire a young caretaker named Lily to look after their home while they go on a trip to Italy.
As Lily settles into the house, she begins to experience strange and eerie occurrences. She discovers old photographs and belongings of the previous tenants, who seemed to have abruptly left the house and abandoned their possessions.
Simultaneously, flashbacks reveal the tragic past of the house: the previous owner, a musician, lost his wife and daughter in a car accident on the way to a concert.
